EVERY baby is a miracle and EVERY baby is special; carefully formed and designed by God to brighten and bless those of us around it.
Some babies, however, seem to be just a little more special. Sometimes it’s due to special circumstances. Sometimes it’s due to personality. Sometimes it’s due to a near loss during birth or medical complications after birth or during pregnancy. Sometimes it’s just because. And sometimes, it’s because after a storm, when the sun starts pushing it’s way back through the dark clouds, even though there is still rain in the atmosphere, the light shines through those necessary though painful drops of rain and something spectacular happens: a rainbow appears.
No matter the circumstances of the storm, having had the chance to carry and hold my own rainbow, rainbow babies will always hold a special place in my heart.
Rachel- I have to give it to you. You have been through so much in your life physically, mentally, and emotionally, yet never have I seen you that there wasn’t a smile about to burst out of you (or already bursting). I’m not saying every moment was that way. I know there were some pretty dense storm clouds in your sky from time to time but you never let them stop you. You never let them smother you, even when the temptation was there to quit and collapse and give up, you didn’t. (ok well maybe a few collapses – literally – but at least one of those was more like destiny)
You kept your eyes focused on the only One who could hear your hearts cry and held fast to those God had put around you to hold you up.
I am so excited to celebrate this precious new rainbow of life growing inside of you. I pray that God will bless both of you with the wisdom, strength, and endurance to continue to conquer the adventure He has laid before you both.
I’m so happy for you!
