One of my all time favorite quotes when speaking of love is also one of my all time favorite scriptures: 1 Corinthians 13. Somehow it seems today’s world things love should be easy. And if it’s not easy, forget it you have a RIGHT to give up! Throw in the towel and move on to something else.
Well… you do have the right… I guess. But news flash, you won’t find easy in anything worthwhile. Easy is cheap, however, easy is also a state of mind.
When you think of gymnasts, some of the moves they do at 20 and have been doing since they were 5 are “easy” to them but not for me!! Why? because I didn’t put the time in to learn them. I didn’t work hard and fall and get back up and try again. So for me? Its hard!! (and complicated and probably painful) but for someone who has been doing them for 15 years. It’s “easy.”
I think the same is true in love and relationships, sometimes we look at what others have and say “I want that!” or “Man why isn’t my relationship that “easy?”
Why? Because they have put time in, they have put work in, when it got tough and they fell down and when it hurt and was hard and they wanted to give up… they didn’t. They stuck with it and put in the work day after day, until it LOOKS easy. But go ahead, ask them. See if they would describe their life and their relationship as easy. I bet I know what they say…
I can also almost guarantee, those that have found love so deep and strong that it looks easy, are living out the things listed in 1 Corinthians 13.
4 [Love] suffereth long, and is kind; [Love] envieth not; [Love] vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

So if you’re looking for a “Cheat Code” or an easy way out, you found it. Love. REALLY love. With all you are, with all you have, unselfishly, in all things.
If I learned one thing from this session and getting to know a little about this sweet couple over the past months, it is that these two have got this down packed. No matter what comes their way, they stick together, they dig their heals in and fight through it. Together. and they overcome. Because of that, they fit together like few couples I have seen. They truly do make it look easy.
Al & Letty – Thanks so much for allowing me to do this session with y’all! I know it was a squeeze schedule wise but I hope you find it worth it! I am SO glad I got to meet you both and can not wait for your big day just around the corner!!
I pray that as you spend these last few weeks together before becoming one, that you will enjoy everything that has made you both who you are today. All challenges, and hurdles, and unexpected calamities aside, I hope nothing will stand in the way of the bright and amazing future you have together as you celebrate each other, your love, your beautiful family and the adventure lying before you!
