I truly can’t even begin to explain how sweet these two young people are.
It was an honor to share in their celebration.
There are so many things that go into a wedding, into a marriage, into ANY relationship really.
Emotions
Feelings
Family
Life Situations
Your Past
THEIR Past
Responses
Belief
Hurts
Compromise
The list could go on and on.
There is even a lot that goes into just getting a relationship started.
Being in the same place at the right time.
Someone starting the conversation.
Someone stepping out on a limb and admitting their feelings.
The other person responding to their vulnerability.
Getting to know each other.
Working through disagreements.
Deciding whether you want to know more about that person.
Deciding whether FOREVER is what you want with that person.
Again, the list can go on and on.
Everyone has a story.
Every COUPLE has a story.
The cool thing is, that story is NEVER complete.
Even after our time here on earth is over, our legacy lives on.
We may not be able to continue to add to “OUR” part of the story, but what we did while we were here on earth is then passed on to the next generation, those around us, those we influenced, even those who influenced us.
We pass that baton on and it’s their turn, just like someone handed us their baton.
In all reality, we are handed batons every day, and we hand off batons every day.
The question is, what are we handing off?
The list of things that brought us here, to where we stand right now, wherever that is, is quite extensive indeed. And the next step is the most important step you will take.
And once you make that step, the most important step will be the next step you have to take.
I know this all may seem a little random in relation to a wedding post, but what it comes to is this:
Sam + Autumn –
I am so SO happy for you both! It has been such an honor to watch and celebrate you and your relationship!
You both came from very different places.
Be thankful for it.
Even the parts that hurt. Be thankful for those places.
They brought you here!
We never know which pieces if we could go back and remove it would have shifted our lift just enough that we would have ended up somewhere else, even if only by a few degrees.
Now, where you go from here depends on you. Not just as individuals anymore, but as a couple, together, working “individually” together towards a common goal. Life.
You guys are amazing. There was a lot that brought you here and there is a lot that goes into getting you where you want to go. But you have everything you need to get you there.
God.
Church.
The Bible.
A Pastor who loves you
Each Other.
Family.
Love
It won’t always be easy, but remember what Pastor said, make sure you measure right.
Balance the good and the bad.
When times get tough the instinct is to pull away and retreat, instead, reach out, cling to each other and God, and there is NO STORM that you won’t be able to turn into a victory.
Build those Batons, those memories, those legacies to pass on not just to your family and children, but to everyone around you. Every person you meet.
Sam + Autumn I pray that as you continue this new journey together, your love and strength and relationship will grow and blossom and impact the world and the future of those around you.
I can’t wait to see what God has in store for you and what the next chapter of your story is.
leave some love:
