This was such a sweet and FUN session! It was wonderful to get to celebrate Effie’s 68th Birthday with her! (She doesn’t look- or act- a day over 24!) She’s still got it goin ON!! 🙂
Not only that, I had the privilege of watching her children and one of her grandchildren absolutely pamper her! It was the sweetest thing to watch. And without a DOUBT I know that she absolutely deserved every bit of it!
There is no way that anyone can ever know the true sacrifice a mother gives to her children during her lifetime.
From the moment a woman holds that first tiny little baby in her arms, her life is changed. The rest of her days will be spent loving that child and giving of herself for that child. Silently hoping in time that all the sacrifice made on the day in and day out basis of time, energy, sleep, money, love and wisdom will be worth it.
I can’t say much about the beautiful woman that you see pictured below, but I can say this, the fruit of her labor are shown in the way her family treats her. For her 68th birthday they decided to make her the QUEEN. They bought her outfits and booked this session to showcase her fabulous self. Through the session they pampered her, helped her, styled her and more than anything cheered her on. It was such a wonderful event. More than just a photo session, it was a party! A true celebration of 68 years of wonder and excitement lived and passed down to the next generation.
To watch her daughter lovingly fix her hair and outfit, the way I am sure she did for her when she was too young to do it herself. To watch her sons hold the props and hold her arm as we walked between locations, the way I’m sure she held any NUMBER of items for busy kids and the way she would have held on to him while he tried to take his first steps. To here her “fan club” cheering her on and encouraging her and making her smile just the way I am sure she did when they were out on the court playing ball, or on the field playing any number of sports, or performing, and graduating high school and boot camp, and accomplishing the next step towards their big dream.
Sacrifice? Yes. It was sacrifice for her all those long years investing and giving and spending. But the short time I had with this wonderful family, it was apparent that it was more than a sacrifice, it was a loving investment that she is in turn now reaping the reward for.
I have no doubt if you asked Ms Effie if the sacrifice and sleepless nights was worth it, she would do it again in a heart beat. I can only hope that one day my kids and grandkids treat me with the same love and care and tenderness that those surrounding her treat her with.
Effie- Thank you so much for spending the afternoon with us. It was truly a privilege and an honor to get to meet you and see how loved and treasured you are by those surrounding you. Thank you for being such an example of a mother. I don’t know what all you went through while you were raising your children and what you had to give and give up in order to make them the people they are today but you deserve a standing ovation. I know because the love they have for you shines with the way they look at you and how they treasure you. I pray that you have many more years of enjoying being spoiled and that God would return your blessing to you and pass the love you have down through many generations to come. Thank you SO much for sprinkling a little more sunshine into our lives with your smile. I hope its not the last time I get to meet you!
