I generally start off the blog post with some sort of writing from my heart and end it with a message to the couple. This post however I am going to start off directly to the couple. (I mean I guess I technically am still starting the post of generally if you count this part buuuut I’m not going to) I think you will understand why if you decide to stick around for the rest…
Alex + Ashley PLEASE forgive me for delivering this so close to the promised deadline but it seems to be the theme with this wedding! Not because of a lack of “responsibility” if you will, but just because I simply COULDN’T STOP!! I couldn’t stop shooting and I couldn’t stop looking at the pictures and saying “oh I want THAT one on the blog too!!” Everything about the day and you guys as a couple was just absolutely amazing.
:: For those of you still tagging along::
After the ceremony I almost ALWAYS have the couple to the cocktail hour/reception WAY before the promised time simply because we just move so fast through the portrait time (because lets face it, though photos are the main “memory keeper” of the day, the real event is the people, not the portraits!) But with this wedding, at this venue, I just couldn’t stop shooting! (Shout out to Neuse Breeze for being so fabulous! and ping back to Jeff + Amanda for having the SAME problem with their engagement session as Neuse Breeze!) The weather was beautiful, the grounds and the water were perfect, the sun cooperated, the gorgeous veil was flowing like a dream. I could go on and on.
HOWEVER, This happened not only because of the fabulous venue but because of the energy of the whole day. From the moment we got to the venue we could feel the energy of excitement and celebration everywhere we looked and with everyone we met. This followed us through the entire day.
Walking into the beautiful bridal suite was like walking into what every Bride wants her big day to feel like. There was all the loving, exciting, feel goods without any of the stress (other than just a hint of exciting nerves maybe)
Meeting with and shooting the Groomsmen was the same, it was like I was simply capturing a group of friends- which was pretty much the case, there generally is a level of awkwardness or “I don’t want to be here” with the men but Alex, you and your guys were absolute champs!
I truly can not imagine how the day could have been any better or gone any smoother. Everyone was a joy to work with and when I left I didn’t feel like I was leaving a wedding full of people I have never met, I felt like I was leaving a wedding full of people I had known for years.
I pray that, just as the wedding was truly a beautiful day, the life you guys have started together and the journey you have begun will be just as beautiful. Life is sure to throw some bumps your way just as it does to us all. I pray that as you get to those bumps (as I’m sure you already have a time or two) instead of bumping you apart, the bumps will cause you to cling to each other, growing stronger and closer with every day, good bad and ugly. I hope that along the way you both become such an unstoppable force, surrounded by those you love and those that love you. That not only would you grow yourselves, but that you can be a lighthouse shining in the dark for those around you helping them to grow and endure life’s speed bumps and pot holes without letting the bumps of life tear you apart.
You both are truly beautiful people and it was such a joy to have the honor of being a small part of your day. I hope you enjoy the photos I have attached (There are so many because I truly just couldn’t stop!!)
Can’t wait to get the rest to you!
